Thursday 20th May 2011
It was the ladies final match of the season this week, they were
playing at home to the New Inn. The first four games went like a
dream, Hannah, Jean, Carol and Nicola all winning their games
although Carol had a marathon trying to finish on double one but
after what seemed an eternity she came through. Pat was up next and
although she had some really good scores, including an 121 she lost
her individual match. Clare was last up for the singels and she won
her match making the scores 5-1, so we had won the match and we were
now playing for points. In the doubles, Pat and Linda lost their game
as did Mary and Julie but never mind, Jackie and Nikki played the
last game of the season and we were not disappointed with Nikki's
finish, she needed 3 to win and went in with a one followed by
double one, a fantastic finish and a great end to the season. I'd
like to thank all the girls for their efforts and for providing so
much good fun this season, win nor lose that is what it is really
all about. I look forward to seeing them all again next season.
Thanks also to John and Julie for accomodating us (or rather putting
up with us) all this season and providing us with lovely suppers.
The new season starts in September, so watch this space.

Thursday 5th May 2011
The ladies played their penultimate match last night at the Black
Swan, Brandesburton. It started very promisingly with Hannah, our
top average from last week, bringing us a win, finishing on double
9. Clare went up next but she was very unlucky to lose her game.
Captain Carol was up third and won her game. Next it was Pat's tuen
who had a brilliant win despite not feeling too well. Linda was also
very unlucky to miss out on a win but our sixth player Jackie won in
great style. So going into the pairs with a lead of 4-2 under our
belts, we had quite a good feeling. Unfortunately, maybe we were a
bit over-confident because we lost all three doubles games and so we
lost once again by just one game. The final score was 5-4 to the
Black Swan. last match of the season is in a fortnight's time at
home to the New Inn.

Thursday 28th April 2011
Good news this week, the ladies were playing The Victoria at the
Pike and Heron in the final of the Gill Didds Cup. 5 sets of 3 games
each. Clare and Linda got us off to a brilliant start by winning the
first set in 2 straight games, Linda finishing both. Next it was
Mary and Hannah, who also finished in two games, this time Mary
finishing both. Pat and Jacky played the next set, they lost the
first game but Jackie won the second and they were narrowly beaten in
the third. So it was then Carol and Linda's turn in the fourth set,
they lost the first game, but Carol finished the next game to win
and Linda finsihed to win the third. So well done ladies, with
the score at 4-1 to the Falcon we did not need to play the last set.
So John will need to buy a new can of Brasso and a duster for next
season. Only two league matches before the end of the season, next
week we are away to the Black Swan.
|
Thursday 14th April 2011
The ladies were at home this week to Brandburton Club A, they are
top of the league, so we did our best. We were pleased ar the end of
the singles to be drawing 3-3. Mary, Jackie and Carol all won their
matches and the other three ladies played really well, had some good
scores and were really unlucky to lose their games. So to the
doubles, Hannah and Nikki were so unlucky to lose their game but
Jackie and pat came through good, Pat finsihing on 49 (7 double 16).
So once again it all came down to the last game which was played by
Linda and Jean, Jean is always a consistant player and Linda always
plays well, so we had high hopes but it wasn't to be. So with the
final score at 5-4 to Brandsburton (which was very respectable) we
live to fight another day. So we are approaching the end of the
season, no match next week; the week after that we are playing the
Victoria in the cup at the Pike and Heron and it's the final, so we
could still see some silverware on the shelf.
|
Thursday 7th April 2011
The ladies were away this week to a new team in the league, the
George and Dragon, Aldbrough; we had not met them before, so we did
not know what to expect. They were a good team beating us 4-2 in the
individuals, although the scoring was good, only Clare and Carol
managed to pull off a win. In the pairs Jackie and Jean played first
and won their game (finished by Jean) bring the match to 4-3 and
quite winnable at that point, but disappointingly we lost the next
game. So with the score at 5-3 we played the last game for a point
which was played by Nikki and Hannah and well done to them as they
won. Oh well, the final score was 5-4. Next week we are at home to
Brandsburton Club.
|
Thursday 24th March 2011
The ladies were at home to Leven Club this week and it was not a
good night. The girls played excellently, but we were just beaten to
the finish on nearly every occasion. The only winner of the singles
was Carol and we only won one doubles game, that was finished by
Mary, so the score finished 7-2 to Leven Club. We did have a good
night otherwise though, we had a full team which included Tania, who
has not been with us for quite a while as she had moved out of the
area, it was certainly great to see her. We don't have a match next
week but we are going into the Falcon for a much needed practice,
why don't you come and join us and have a fun night?
|
Thursday 17th March 2011
Anyway, to the match, Clare started the evening and was scoring
magnificently, when she got down to a finish, but sadly still lost her game.
Both Linda and Nicola won their games by finishing on double one. Next up was Jean
but she lost her game. Next up was Mary, she also lost but Pat
got a point by default. So it was 3-3 going into the doubles.
Hannah and Carol lost their game and so did Jacky and Jean. Last up
was Pat and Linda who won their game, Pat finishing.
So with the score at 5-4 to the Exes, we had lost a game that we
could have won. We are at home to the Leven Club next week,
hopefully better news then.

were entirely inappropriate. We have always enjoyed good relations
with all the dart teams and these comments regarding the ladies were
totally unfair. I wish to apologise unreservedly to the ladies of

Thursday 10th March 2011
It was the second round of the cup last night at the Bay Horse,
Arnold. We have always had good nights there in the past and last
time we met, as I recall, we hammered them, although it was not to
be so last night. Jean and Clare won the first set (Clare has really
got her mojo back and finished the set in two straight games. That,
however, was to be the only win of the night and we finished losing
3-1 and so out of the cup. Never mind, the supper was good. League
match next week against the Ex-Servicemens Club, lets hope we have
more luck there.

Thursday 3rd March 2011
The ladies were at Brandsburton Club last night, it was a night of
double 1 finishes and both teams were quite evenly matched. First up
was Nikki, both ladies got down to double one, but unfortunately the
Brandsburton player got there first. Next up was Clare who after
being 200 behind at one point, fought back brilliantly and managed
to get the point. Hannah was next, it was a very even game, but she
was just pipped to the finish. Linda was up fourth, again it came
down to double one but Linda got it in fine style. 5th was Jean, who
true to form (she never lets us down) again finished on double one.
Last of the individuals was Pat, she was so unlucky to lose, but she
put up a really good fight. So after the individuals, it was 3-3.
First up to the oche for the doubles was Carol and Hannah, they were
the 'Dream Team', Hannah's scoring was brilliant, getting us down to
13 which Carol got in 2 arrows (5, double 4), leaving the
Brandsburton Club standing, still needing 132. This was done despite
woeful barracking from the team i.e "what a load of
rubbish", note, this was quickly changed to
"Marvelous" after she had won the point. We needed one
more poin to win, Jean and Jacky did brilliantly with Jean finishing
again. So we had won the match, we just needed the last point but
unfortunately it wasn't to be, Clare and Linda did really well but
Brandsburton took the last point. So it was a win to the Falcon
ladies 5-4. Next week it is the cup match, away to the Bay Horse.
|
Thursday 24th Feb 2011
It was the ladies turn to take on the Pike and Heron this week and
after a shakey start (losing the first 4 games), the girls started
to fight back in the fifth game. Hannah, our youngest recruit, came
up to the oche to bring us our first win, then Clare, who is finding
her form again came in to win the sixth. So with the scores at 4-2
to the Pike and Heron after the individuals, we needed to win all
three doubles games. This was looking good for the Falcon when Mary
and Clare won their game. Next it was up to Julie and team captain
Carol to take to the board, athough not only the match but
reputations were at stake, they were quite convincingly beaten. So
with Linda and Nicola last to play, we needed the point, and they
delivered, winning in good style. So the final score was 5-4 to the
Pike and Heron, but we live to fight another day. Not so sure about
the team captain though, she could be on a free transfer to the Blue
Bell if she doesn't buck her ideas up.

Thursday 17th February
It was a disappointing night for the Falcon ladies against the
Victoria last night. There were however some excellent scores, the
top average being Nikki with 63.8, but we just could not ge the
finishes. We started off very well with both Carol and Clare winning
their games, but after that it all went pear shaped. Linda won the
5th game convincingly but we lost all of the others. The final score
was 6-3 to the Victoria. Nver mind, we will not be crestfallen, next
week we are home to the Pike and Heron and hopefully we will win.
Why not come along and cheer us on.
|
Thursday 10th February
The ladies were at home to the Blue bell last night. A disappointing
set of individuals (games and players!). We lost the first 5 games,
we did hit some great scores (one of which was 162 with three darts
by Mary), but luck was definitely on the side of the Blue Bell. We
feared the worst until Claire came up with a brilliant win in the
6th game and showed us how to do it. Nikki and Carol made a great
combination, Nikki did the scoring and Carol did the finishing,
giving us another great win. Next it was Julie and Linda's turn,
again a fantastic game with both of them throwing excellent darts,
Julie being top average with 60. last but not least it was Jean and
Clare, they left their opponents standing and Jean finished to make
the final score 5-4 to the Blue Bell. Pity we didn't find our form a
little sooner, but a good night was had by all nonetheless. Next
week we are away to the Victoria, wish us luck.

Thursday 3rd February 2011
Hi everybody. The ladies were at the Bay Horse, Arnold last night in
the semifinal of the cup and they didn't disappoint. It consisted of
5 sets each of 3 games, the first to 3 sets won the match. Mary and
Pat started us off, Mary won the first game and although the scoring
was brilliant they were pipped at the post and lost the next two
games; so it was 1-0 in sets to the Bay Horse. Next was Nikki and
Jean, Nikki had some brilliant scores one of which was 112 and with
Jean's finishing they couldn't lose, and so we fought back to 1-1.
Hannah and Carol played the 3rd set, Hannah won the first game and
Carol the third. So it was Linda and Jacky in the fourth set; Jacky
won the first and Linda the third. A fantastic finish with the
scores in sets 3-1 it was a convincing win for the Falcon. Well done
ladies. Next week we are at home to the Blue Bell.
|
Thursday 27th January 2011
The ladies were away at the Hare and Hounds at Leven last night. Pat
was first to the oche, it was a even game but unfortunately Pat was
beaten. Carol was next up, she won, finishing on double 1 after
making really hard work of it, heaven knows how many throws she had
at it but her perserverance paid off in the end. Nikki was next
followed by Clare, they both lost their games which was a shame as
both scored really well. Joan was fourth and true to form she came
through to finish on double 3. Hannah played the last individual
game but was again narrowly beaten, so we went into the doubles with
a score of 4-2 to the Hare and Hounds. Nikki and Mary played first,
know that we needed to win the next three games to win the match and
so they really went for it, they pulled off some fantastic scores,
Mary had a three dart average 0f 65.2 and Nikki 46.8, of course they
won in great style with Mary finishing. Next up were Jacky and
Carol, they also went for it and Carol finished on double 4, very
relieved it had not come down to double 1 again. So with the score
at 4-4 we had to win the last game, but unfortunately it was not
meant to be; Linda and Jean really did their best but luck was not
on their side. So it was a loss but not a bad score - Falcon 4 -
Hare and Hounds 5. It is the Cup match next week and we are away at
the Bay Horse, wish us luck.
|
Thursday 20th January 2011
The ladies were out last night and back to their usual form after
the disappointing result last week. Carol led the way, winning the
first game easily, finishing on double 18. Nikki was next, she had
some brilliant scores (one of 126), she also won her game, this time
on double 1. Next was Pat in another high scoring game which she
finished on double 1. Linda was 4th up but unfortunately she was just pipped
at the finish. Clare was our 5th player and another easy win
finishing on double 7. Last up was Hannah, she too won her game in
brilliant fashion, again finishing on double 1. So with a winning
score of 5-1 to The Falcon, it was onto the doubles. First up was
Jacky and Jean, making it look easy with another win, Jacky
finishing on double 1. Next were Linda and Carol, Linda brought in
some great scores which brought it down to another easy finish on
double 1 by Carol. Last up was Pat and Julie, no contest, we won yet
agin with Julie finishing on double 2. Well done to the ladies, a
great night. Final score a win for the Falcon - 8-1.
|
Thursday 13th January 2011
The ladies were out again, this time at the Board Inn, Skipsea,
tough not a good night in many respects; the ladies don't like the
venue as it is cramped and they have to manoeuvre around the pool
table, but we had to go. We lost the first two games, then Carol
came up for the third, thank heavens we took her to this match as
she finished in great style with a three dart average of 57.6. We
lost the next two games but Pat won hers by default. So going into
the doubles the score was 4-2 to the Board. We lost the first tow
doubles games, then Linda and Carol went up for the third game and
our lifesaver Carol finished the game making the final score 6-3 to
the Borad. Not a goodnight but we are at home next week to the Bay
Horse, wish us luck or better still come along to the Falcon and
cheer us on.

Thursday 6th January 2011
Happy new Year to you all and it was a happy New Year for the darts
team also. On a cold winter's night we drove up to the New inn at
Leven and we certainly made it worth our while. First up was our new
superstar, Pat (the Poweress) Pye, after a fantastic game and a
score of 117 with one set of darts, she needed 38 to win her game,
first dart was double 3 leaving 32, next was double 7 leaving 18 and
her final dart was double 9, leaving her opponent dumbfounded; what
a way to start. Next up was Jean she had trouble winning her game
but finished in double 1. Next game was Linda who won finishing on
double 3. Mary was unfortunate and lost her game which was unusual
for her as she has had many good finishes lately, but no one wins
'em all. Carol was next to win a game wanting a finish of 35, she
went 3, double 16 - no problem. Hannah was next and she is really
gaining confidence and finishes on double 2. So after the individual
games we had already won the match with the score at 5-1 to the
Falcon, so we were now only playing for points. Jackie and Pat were
first up and were very unlucky to lose their game, but next the next
game was won by Nikki and Mary, redemeeming herself after the
individuals. last up was Carol and Jean who also won their game
making the final match score 7-2 to the Falcon. certainly a good
night was had by all. See you next week when we take on the Baord
Inn, Skipsea.

Thursday 16th December 2011
Well the ladies were at home to the Black Swan, Seaton and we seem
to have lost a little bit of form; maybe it is due to the excitement
of Christmas and if we are all good girls maybe Santa will bring us
each of us a much needed new set of darts! To put it into their own
words "it was up to the novices to fish us out of the
mire". One of those novices was Pat who came up to the ocke
first, she had a storming game and finished brilliantly on double 3
- getting a single 1 immediately followed by the double. Carol and
Jean were next to play their games but both lost. Next up was novice
Hannah, it is a good job she turned up on a cold Winter's night
because she won her match. Then, sadly, it all went pear shaped and
we lost all the remaining games, with the final score being 7-2 to
the Black Swan. We don't have another match now until January, but I
can take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year.
|
Thursday 9th December 2010
The ladies were away at Brandsburton Club and although they tried
really hard they lsot the match. It started well with Jean winning
her game quite easily, but then the team lost the next 5 matches. So
we went into the doubles behind 5-1. First double was Jean and Linda
and thank goodness we took Jean with us as she also finsihed this
game giving us another point. Clare and Hannah then lost their game
but Nicola finshed the the last game which she played with Pat. This
made the final score 6-3 to Brandsburton Club. It could have been
far worse, so we are still very bouyant and looking forward to
playing the Black Swan at home next week.
|
Thursday 25th November 2010
Well it was a cold and snowy night in Withernwicklast night, but
this did not deter us from venturing out to Leven Club. First up was
Hannah, who did some excellent scoring but unfortuantely lost her
game. Next it was Carol, who finsihed her game on double 8. Mary was
next who also was a winner finishing on double 15 with her first
dart. Clare was third but although she had amazing scores of 121,
74 and 65, she couldn't get her double first and lost
her game. Linda won her game finishing on double 1 and Jean finished
the last game of the singles on double 18.
So with scores standing at 4-2 to the Falcon, we only needed to win
one doubles game to win the match. That was achieved in the first
doubles game by Jean and Pat. Jean was top average for the night. So
we had won the match, we were now playing for points. Sorry to say
that both Hannah and Nicola and Clare and Linda lost their games but
it was stll a victory to the ladies, 5-4, who played excelently
against very good opposition. Next week we are at home to the Rose
and Crown.
|
Thursday 4th November 2010
The ladies were in the first round of the Gill-Dodds Cup last night
playing Brandesburton Club A. A cup match consists of 5 sets and
each set has 3 games of pairs. The first to 3 sets is the winner.
First up were Jean and Linda who won their set in two straight
games, Linda finishing both. Next up was Nicola and Carol, another
win in two straight games, this time both finished by Carol. Hannah
and Tanya were next up, Brands Club won the first game but Tanya
finished the next two, making game, set and match to the Falcon. We
had won all of the first three sets dropping only one game in the
process, so we won the match 3-0. Mary and Pat did play the fourth
set just for fun and they also managed to win that one as well, Mary
finishing the first and Pat the second. Well done ladies, there will
be no match next week as we have a bye, so we will be playing our
next match on 3rd February.
|
Thursday 28th October 2010
It was a great night for the ladies darts team. It was alleged that
they had not lost a game so far this season. Carol was first up but
lost her game. Newcomer Hannah was second, she played brilliantly
and won her game, it is difficult to believe that she had not thrown
a dart before September. Julie and Nicola played the third and
fourth games but sadly lost both. Next up was our top finisher,
Mary, who won easily. After Mary it was Clare's turn, although she
has struggled a bit lately she came back with a vengeance and won
the sixth game. So we went into the pairs with the score at 3-3.
Clare and Mary were first to the ocke and it was a great win with
Clare finishing the game. Next it was Pat and Carol, Pat played a
fantastic game and finished on double 5. Last but not least it was
Jean and Nicola, and although both played very well, they were
beaten to the double. Jean was top average for the match with Pat
second. So with the scores at 5-4 to The Falcon, it was another win.
Next week it is a cup match at Brandesburton Club, so wish us luck.
|
Thursday 21st October 2010
The ladies were at home to Brandesburton Club B last night, what an
exciting game it turned out to be. Mary was up first and showed us
how to win in great style. It gave us all great confidence and we
thought we were going to win easily, unfortunately Brands Club had
other ideas and they really made up fight in the subsequent games.
Nicola was up next and lost, then Pat lost, followed by out top
average player from last week, Tanya, losing and, from bad to worse
Linda also lost her game. Things were looking grim with the scores
at 1-4 to Brands Club, it looked like it might turn out to be a
whitewash. Next up was team captain, Carol, who stopped the rot a
little by winning. So at the end of the singles game the score was
2-4 to Brands Club; we had to win all three of our doubles games to
win the match, a bit of a tall order.
First to play were mother and daughter combo, Linda and Hannah; the
game came down to double 1, Linda got it, giving us a much needed
win, 1 down with 2 to go. Next up was Mary and Clare, they both
played excellently and once again Mary got the double, giving us
another win and levelling the scores at 4-4. The final game was down
to landlady Julie and Tanya to save the day which they did in fine
style, Julie finishing to give us a great win. Final score 5-4 to
The Falcon.
|
Thursday 14th October 2010
The ladies darts team played at the Pike and Heron last night, a
disappointing result as we lost but still better than last week -
5-4 to the Pike and Heron. Claire, Pat and Tanya all narrowly lost
their individual games but Nicola won her match, her first win for
the team - well done; this halted the rot and, we were further
helped as Jean won her game. Then unfortunately Mary lost her game
making it 4-2 to the Pike and Heron after the individual games. In
the doubles, Mary and Linda won their game, then Pat and Carol lost
theirs but Jean and Jackie won the last game making the score fairly
respectable. Next week we are at home to the Branesburon Club, so
wish us luck.
|
Thursday 7th October 2010
The Ladies dart's team was at home to the Victoria last night, and
sadly it turned out to be a night best forgotten. The captain was on
holiday, but that should be no excuse as everything went pear
shaped. Mary won her individual game and Mary and Jean won their
doubles game, but that was it. The final score to the Victoria -
7-2. Away to the Pike and Heron next week, lets hope we can better.
|
|
Thursday 30th September 2010
The ladies darts team were at the Bluebell last night and a great
night was had by all. Carol, Clare, Mary, Linda and Jean all won
their individual games and so with the scores at 5-0 to the Falcon
we had won the match already, but as we get a point for each game
won we have to play on to the end of the match. New player Hannah
was up next but the more experienced girl from the Bluebell defeated
her. By now the Bluebell were quite relieved that it was not going
to be a whitewash. With the score at 5-1 we confidently went into
the pairs games. Unfortuantely Nicola and Linda lost their game as
did Mary and Hannah but the evening was revived when Jean and Clare
won the last game. So it ended up quite a convincing win to the
Falcon, finishing 6-3. Next week we are at home to The Victoria, we
are all looking forward to that one.
|
Thursday 23rd September 2010
The ladies darts team, this week, were playing at home to the Hare and Hounds. Linda and Carol both lost their individual games but Jackie won her game finishing on a double 1. Nicola played her first individual game for us and unfortuantely nerves got the better of her and she lost her game but Clare came back in the fifth game and won quite convincingly. Mary was up next but although she put up a very brave fight her opponent was brilliant and sadly beat her. This meant that the scores were 2-4 to the Hare and Hounds after the individuals. We needed to win all three double games to win. Jean and Jackie were up first and won, Jean finishing on a double 2. Next it was Tania and Clare, they won with Tania finishing on a double 5. With the scores at 4-4, Mary and Hannah went into the final game needing to win, but again lady luck was against us and they were very narrowly beaten.
The final score 4-5 to the Hare and Hounds. Nect week we are away to the Blue Bell - watch this space.
|
Thursday 16th September 2010
First up was Pat who was nursing a badly sprained wrist, she played
really well considering, but unfortuantely she was beaten in her
game. Next was Mary, after a slow start she came up with a score of
95 followed by 83 and had a fantastic finish of 90, this could
possibly be the highest finish of the season. Clare won the next
game, a steady game finishing on double 2 and then Jacky won her
game on double 1. Both Linda and Carol lost their games bringing the
scores to 3-3 after the individuals.
Pat and Carol redemmed themselves by winning the first doubles game.
Unfortunately Nicola and Clare lost their match, it was a great and
very close game. This brought the score to 4-4 and so all was to
play for in the last game. It was mother and daughter duo, Linda and
Hannah who played their hearts out but to no avail. The final score
5-4. Next week we are at home to the Hare and Hounds, wish us luck.
|
|
Thursday 9th September 2010
The
Falcon Ladies Darts Team got off to a cracking start last night,
playing Board Inn and winning 5-4. We have managed to sign on two
new players, Nicola and Hannah Graham, they both had a game last night and
did not let the side down in any way. Tanya was first up
winning easily, finishing on double 5. Next was
Jacky, she also had a good game and beat her opponent finishing
on double 6. Next up was our Vice Captain Mary, she had
the highest score of the night 111 and beat her opponent to the
double 1 finish. With the scores at 3-0 it was Pats turn, she
was just pipped at the finish after a brilliantly close game.
Linda won the next game finishing on double 8 and she had the
highest average of the night at 44.8.
Clare was really unlucky in game 6, she should have won but the
luck was on Board Inns side on this occassion. So after the
singles the score stood at 4-2 to the Falcon. So it was
down to the doubles, first up was Carol and new player Nicola,
they won their game, Nicola threw some great darts for a first time
player, Carol did the finishing on double 1. With the
scores at 5-2 to The Falcon we thought we were home and dry, but
Board Inn had other ideas and they took the last two games. It
was unlucky because Mary and Julie had a fantastic in their
game, Mary got another high score of 108 and Julie was very
consistant in her scoring. The last up were Jacky and Hannah,
again pipped at the post but our new young player (Hannah) made
it very entertaining and was a lot of fun. Next week we are
away at The Bay Horse at Arnold. We know we will have a
good night as the team are good company and the suppers are
excellent. Watch this space.
