The Rebuilding of St Alban's Church 1854

St Alban's church was significantly rebuilt in the 1850, the two views below show the before and after views.

Below is a plan of the rebuilding by the architects Mallinson and Healey.
it clearly shows that they kept the original floor plan and so the foundations and lower course of the walls are the same.
Most significantly the arches to the south aisle and the chancel arch are from the original church.
The chancel (where the altar is) was also mostly retained.
The windows were all replaced as can be seen in the two photos above.
The biggest change was the west end (towards West Lambwath Road) which was totally rebulit with the original towern being removed.
The vestry and the south porch were totally rebuilt.
